Check Back for 2010 Schedule

Welcome and thanks for visiting the Dietzville Benchrest Club website!  Our club is a small group of folk (men and women) from South Central Texas obsessed with the game of 22RF benchrest competitive shooting. We are centrally located between Austin and San Antonio and compete every third Saturday of the month, March – October.  The Dietzville Benchrest Club is a sanctioned American Rimfire Association.   Our matches fall under the “unlimited” classification.  Under ARA guidelines, in an “unlimited” class match the shooter may use any firearm chambered for the .22 long rifle cartridge.  There are no weight limits, no dimensional restrictions to barrels, stocks, rests, or limits on scope magnification.  However, the competitor must use unaltered factory ammunition, and it must be available for sale over the counter and consist of the original cartridge case, powder, and projectile.  We shoot at ARA approved targets consisting of twenty-five record bulls upon which one shot per bull is shot for score.  A maximum of twenty minutes is given to complete all twenty-five bulls.  This unusual scoring procedure is what makes ARA one of the most difficult target types to master. Shooters have the opportunity to compete for national recognition by competing with shooters from other clubs throughout the United States.  ARA also hosts a National Tournament at the St. Louis Benchrest Club in Warrenton, MO, every Labor Day weekend.  If you wish to learn more about ARA, check out their website, http://ara.benchrest.net.

The public is welcome and there are No Membership Fees.  A regular club event will cost you $5 per target, and special tournaments fees will vary, whether it be a state event or local club tournament.   All events will consist of six 25-shot targets.  There is always great food and fun to be had following the shoot.  We welcome all skill levels.  If you are in the area, please come by and join us for a match.  For more information, please call Dorothy Jamison at 210-656-1741 or Jack Harper at 210-269-8269 . You may also e-mail dorothy.b.jamison@sbcglobal.net or jackharper@sbcglobal.net.  This is a great sport and a challenging game.  We look forward to seeing you.
