Conditions were a bit unstable after the first three targets. Everyone was changing ammo in hopes of getting thing to settle down. As usual, David Schmidt and Jack Harper, found what worked and stayed with it. Dorothy Jamison continues to improve, a she find herself more comfortable with her new Suhl set up. Norma Painter swapped out guns with Frank, and had a couple of great targets. Our new shooters from Boerne are starting to find their way, and need a bit more seat time.
July 19, 2008 Congratulations to David Schmidt for winning the July Shoot! We had a great shoot Saturday night with several new shooters. David Schmidt, as always, kicked butt and I had to settle for second. The trigger broke on my Hall so I had to resort to my old outdated 52D Factory barrel. Jack picked a bad time to leave his level on the target and took a couple of zeros to protect his level and fell into third place. Several new shooters from the prospective Boerne Shooting Club participated and the new “Junior”, Allison Yates, shot some pretty impressive targets for her first time out. Mom & Dad had better watch out. Jack Harper was awarded $100 cash for his 2500 at the last Dietzville shoot. He claimed he ran out of his good ammo and couldn't repeat. We missed several of our faithful members due to other family commitments and hope they will be back on board at our next shoot in September. |

June 24 , 2008 Congratulations to Jack Harper on being the first Texas shooter to shoot a 2500 ARA target. Jack was shooting a Bill Myers smithed Turbo with a Benchmark Barrel. Jack was down to just six boxes of the new ACT-X he had purchased to test. I've got the feeling Jack is going try to find some more. Other notables were David Schmidt and Fred Jamison. Several members of the Boerne Shooting Club, were on hand to learn the in’s and outs of ARA, as they as in the process of building a new Benchrest Range on their club property just on the North Edge of Boerne, Texas. They hope to have it up and running after the first of the year. Sally Yates and Steve Blain were especially helpful in scoring after they learned the ropes. As there were no complaints, I'd say Polly taught them well. Thanks also go out the Steve "Target Boy" Yates. Steve said he had so much fun he's going to get him a cape so he can fly down range quicker next time. Several of them had the opportunity to try their hand at the tough ARA target. Robert Lydecker, competed in the match with his stock Anschutz 54, and held his own. I'll have to admit, the conditions were some of the best we've had in years.
Dorothy Jamison & Jack Harper. May 19, 2008 Fellow competitors: Outstanding results for the strange conditions. Trick to state the obvious. Congratulations go out to Danny Killough for his two wins of the weekend. I think he was able to pay his gas bill to go back home. Danny won both tournaments, with excellent agg's. He almost tied the range record, but close only counts in horseshoes. Also the others that contributed to this special event, we thank you. It appears, the Eley combinations are working. Looking for more outstanding finishes from all during the remained of the year. Chris Peet & Danny Ezell, were the lucky winners of a new Shilen Barrel, thanks to the fine folks at Shilen. It was a special treat for all, to have Ed & Charlene Shilen shoot with us this year. |

Fred Jamison April 20, 2008 Cedar Pointe ARA kicked off its 2008 season, under the lights Saturday night. Eleven shooters braved the twitchy winds, upward of 10mph, under a full moon. The top shooters waited them out; the others were a bit inpatient. With Coyotes howling at the moon, David Schmidt took over where he left off last year. Macky and Dan also turned in some excellent scores. Newcomer, Leslie Williams, won his first target with a 2025 in only his second event. How about that Jack, beat by your own gun. Good buy Les. Jerod Benker, another first timer, shot his 1st 2000 on his 2nd target. It looks like our Mother Hen, Miss Dorothy, is making a comeback. She finished tied with Jack Harper. We had one other new competitor that braved the winds with a Freedom Arms Pistol. As a current Cowboy Action Shooter, Joe Coleman said he just wanted to see how he would do with his Pistol. Well Joe, you won the factory Pistol class hands down. |

Tommy J Hooten March 16, 2008 Congratulations to Fred Jamison for winning the first Dietzville BRC shoot of the year! Fred, a veteran of the Dietzville and Cedar Pointe clubs, used consistency to aggregate enough points to win the shoot last Saturday in crazy wind gusts of over 25 mph. Well done, Sir! |
